A good bar is so much more than somewhere to enjoy a tipple. From interior ambiance to well-made drinks to delicious food, the contenders for Auckland’s Best Bar truly offer it all. And while Parnell’s elegant Faraday’s Bar came very close to the top, alongside open-air venues like Viaduct Harbour’s Rooftop at QT and Parasol & Swing, and of course, the perpetually-packed Hotel Ponsonby, it was underground Britomart bar, Caretaker that took pole position, thanks to its after-hours vibe and specialty cocktails.
