Searching for sartorial inspiration? Shop pieces inspired by our favourite street style looks

While Fall-Winter 2023 fashion month has been and gone, there are a number of street style looks proliferated by show attendees that have been living in our heads rent free. And while the runways serve up more formal trends, it is on the streets outside the shows that we can see what people are actually wearing — which is usually where we find most of our inspiration for the season ahead.

Here, we round up a raft of sleek, street style looks (from the ‘The Citybiker’ to the ‘The Utilitarian’ (to a dose of double denim for good measure) to leave you feeling sartorially inspired, and round up how you can easily emulate each look yourself.

The Citybiker

The tough leather jacket has been plucked from the back of a motorbike and placed at the heart of city-slickers’ wardrobes. Worn with timeless and tailored pieces like trench coats, suede boots and fine knitwear, this look is roughing up classic city style and calling on us to be a bit more bold this season.

The Patrick Bateman

Take style cues from American Psycho’s slick protagonist this season with a modern take on the masculine suit. And while we encourage you to embrace that 80s-era shoulder exaggeration, perhaps swap the slacks for some tailored shorts — and add a bag for good measure.

The Double Down

Double denim is here to stay, with more styles than ever coming to the fore from some of our favourite brands. The biggest difference this season is found in the fit. Forget what anyone tells you about skinny jeans (they’re not making a comeback), only dabble in oversized denim for a look that truly stands out.

The Utilitarian

The boilersuit has been replaced with the matching two-piece set, it seems, as utilitarian style moves into a fresh new era. Here, it’s best to embrace functional textiles in neutral tones (for maximum versatility) as well as opting for pieces with pockets, pockets and more pockets.

The Timeless Twist

Breathe new life into your staple pieces with a host of showstopping accessories that give timeless style a contemporary twist. There’s no easier way to elevate a classic white shirt, for instance, than with some abstract, oversized sunglasses or a bright handbag.

The Comfort Couture

Like it or not, there are elements of our work-from-home days that have remained in our seasonal wardrobes, namely the importance of comfort, even when heading into the office. Nailing this look is all about balance, which means pairing soft, supple fabrics and versatile cuts with sharp tailoring and eye-catching accessories.
